Tom and Mary Wykes were high school sweethearts, and married in 1968. Tom has been employed by Southwestern Bell for 25 years, and works as a cable repairman. Tom is the handy-man of the family, and keeps all of our gadgets working for us. He likes to play computer games, especially mine sweep! He is a big fan of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. Tom attended Abilene Christian College in Abilene, Texas.
Mary is currently employed as a bilingual educator by the Grand Prairie ISD. She loves to bake bread, hike, and quilt in addition to composing, singing, and playing guitar and piano. She grew up singing with her family in the car, in the kitchen, etc. and also singing in church choirs with her mother Carol Beglau. She began piano lessons when she was 5, and began formal voice lessons while in high school. She attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota; Schiller International University in West Germany; Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, Texas; and Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas.... finally obtaining a degree in Spanish from Texas Wesleyan. While at Concordia she studied voice with Mrs. Joseph Kise. She was also privileged to study with Helmut Lips of Stuttgart, Germany, and Earl Tom Keel of Grand Prairie, Texas.
Walter,27,is currently completing his master's as a playwright at the University of Nevada. He and his wife Shelly both earned their B.A.'s in Theatre Arts at Texas Wesleyan University. They were married December of 1995 in Jacksboro, Texas. Shelly is the assistant manager of the Sunset Cafe in one of Las Vegas' newest casinos.
Jennifer, 24, is currently employed by Chili's Restaurants, and is in their management training program. She is a very artistic soul, but also seems to have acquired her father's practical side. She attended McLennan Junior College and Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Eric, 18, recently finished high school and is trying to decide which direction he wants to go. He plays guitar, and writes poetry and prose. He is also a gifted artist, and does detailed pen and ink drawings.
Unfortunately, Shelly was not available for this photo that was taken the summer before she and Walter were married. It was taken by Doris Ford of Ford's Photographers in Grand Prairie, Texas.
